Puri-guard® BW-4040 reverse osmosis membrane is a type of water filtration membrane used in systems that remove rate of dissolved salts, TOC, SiO2 and other substances, and is especially suitable for the preparation of high purity water in drinking water, electronics and power industries..

It's a 4-inch diameter ,40-inch long membrane , typically made from a thin-film composite material .

This membrane effectively filters out salts , heavy metals , chlorine, fluoride, and other impurities, leaving behind cleaner water.

Q: What pressure recommend in BW-4040 membrane actual using condition ?

A: For the BW-4040 brackish water RO membrane, the recommended operating pressure depends on the feed water salinity (TDS) and temperature. Here's a detailed guide based on typical manufacturer specs:

Minimum pressure: ~100 psi (~0.7 MPa) – helps maintain sufficient flow

Typical operating pressure: 200–400 psi (~1.4–2.8 MPa) for standard brackish water

Maximum operating pressure: 600 psi (~4.1 MPa) – exceeding this can damage the membrane

Note: Pressure must be adjusted based on feed water TDS. Higher TDS requires higher pressure to maintain designed permeate flow.

The water flux listed in the table of technical parameters is the average value, and the error of the water flux of a single membrane element is ±15%.

Before the membrane components leave the factory, the dry membrane components have no protective liquid, and the wet membrane components use 1.0% sodium bisulfite (10% glycerol antifreeze is added in winter) solution for storage and vacuum packaging.

Dry elements should always be kept wet after wetting.

When the membrane element is used for the first time, it is recommended to first rinse at low pressure for 15-25 minutes, and then rinse at high pressure for 60-90 minutes (the water flux is not less than 50% of the system design water flux). The water produced and concentrated water within the first hour of the initial operation of the membrane element should be completely discharged.
